Huawei Technologies has effectively signaled the end of its era of crisis management, reporting 2025 fiscal results that see its top-line revenue return to levels not seen since before the height of U.S. export restrictions. The Shenzhen-based giant posted a global sales revenue of 880.9 billion yuan (approximately $122 billion), a 2.18% year-on-year increase that nearly matches its 2020 peak. Net profit rose more sharply by 8.63% to 68 billion yuan, indicating a company that has successfully optimized its operations despite a highly constrained geopolitical environment.
The recovery is most visible in the terminal business—formerly the hardest hit by semiconductor sanctions—which surged to 344.5 billion yuan. While still shy of its historical record, the division’s 1.6% growth reflects a stabilization driven by the return of domestic smartphone market share and the maturation of its proprietary Kirin chipsets. Meanwhile, the Intelligent Automotive Solution unit emerged as the company’s fastest-growing engine, with revenue skyrocketing 72.1% as Huawei cements its role as the primary technology provider for China’s burgeoning electric vehicle sector.
In her annual address, Rotating Chairwoman Meng Wanzhou identified artificial intelligence as the definitive strategic opportunity for the coming decade. Huawei is positioning itself as the foundational provider for China's AI infrastructure, emphasizing a shift toward hardware-led profitability and system-level engineering. Meng characterized AI as the "last technical revolution in human history," suggesting that the company's future hinges on its ability to build the computing power and software ecosystems that will define the post-mobile era.
Perhaps the most significant milestone mentioned is the survival of the HarmonyOS ecosystem, which Meng declared has crossed the "life-death line." With over 10 million developers and 36 million devices running its latest iterations, Huawei has managed to create a viable third-party operating system in a world dominated by Android and iOS. This achievement is backed by an unrelenting commitment to research and development, which consumed 192.3 billion yuan in 2025, or nearly 22% of total revenue, focused largely on indigenous supply chain resilience and advanced computing clusters.
