Tencent’s enterprise communications platform, WeCom, has introduced a sophisticated new feature designed to bridge the gap between physical interactions and digital workflows. Known as "Record In-Person Chat," the tool leverages advanced voiceprint recognition technology to automate the transcription and organization of offline brainstorming sessions and face-to-face meetings.
Accessible via the application’s primary interface, the feature allows users to initiate a recording that does more than just capture audio. By utilizing speaker diarization, the AI-driven system can distinguish between different participants based on their unique vocal profiles, effectively generating a structured transcript that attributes specific statements to the correct speakers in real time.
This update arrives as China’s enterprise software market becomes an increasingly fierce battleground. Tencent is locked in a high-stakes competition with Alibaba’s DingTalk and ByteDance’s Lark, each striving to become the indispensable 'operating system' for Chinese corporate life. By automating the tedious task of meeting minutes, WeCom is positioning itself as a productivity partner rather than a mere messaging utility.
Currently in its "gray testing" phase, the feature is being rolled out to a limited number of users before a wider release. As Tencent continues to weave artificial intelligence more deeply into its ecosystem, the focus remains on reducing friction in professional environments where high-speed decision-making is the norm.
