Nvidia Pours $4bn into Photonics to Unclog AI Data‑centres and Lock In Supply

Nvidia will invest $4 billion—$2 billion each—in Lumentum and Coherent to accelerate photonics and laser component development for AI datacentres. The deals combine financing, purchase commitments and technology usage rights, aiming to remove optical interconnect bottlenecks while consolidating Nvidia’s influence over the AI hardware stack.
