Geely Auto Group has officially unveiled the Galaxy TT in Shanghai, marking a decisive move to reclaim the narrative in China’s increasingly crowded electric sedan market. As the first pure electric coupe under the Galaxy brand, the TT is positioned as a direct challenger to the tech-heavy entrants that have recently dominated industry headlines and consumer interest.
Technologically, the vehicle is built on a high-voltage 800V architecture, a standard that is rapidly becoming the benchmark for premium electric vehicles seeking to minimize charging times. With a length of nearly five meters and a 2.92-meter wheelbase, the Galaxy TT aims to balance executive-level cabin space with the aggressive, aerodynamic silhouette of a performance-oriented sports sedan.
Beyond raw power, the TT is a showcase for Geely’s autonomous ambitions. The vehicle features a roof-mounted LiDAR system integrated with the "Qianli Haohan" assisted driving suite, signaling Geely’s intent to match the software capabilities of specialized EV makers like XPeng and Xiaomi. This focus on intelligent driving is a clear nod to the shifting priorities of Chinese consumers who now view smart features as a primary differentiator.
Scheduled for a market launch in the fourth quarter of this year, the Galaxy TT will enter a brutal competitive landscape. It faces off against the runaway success of the Xiaomi SU7, the established Tesla Model 3, and the upcoming XPeng P7+. The success of this model will serve as a bellwether for whether legacy automotive giants can successfully pivot their massive manufacturing scale to outmaneuver agile, tech-first disruptors.
