The Brief

According to China News Service, the School of Psychology at Shanghai Normal University partnered with related enterprises to release an AI psychological resilience training platform focused on developing teachers' psychological competence, utilizing AI digital human simulations to offer typical scenario practice for normal school students and active teachers. The platform targets teachers and draws on ten consecutive years of practical experience from the School of Psychology at Shanghai Normal University hosting advanced training classes for core mental health teachers in Shanghai primary and secondary schools. It centers on frequent scenarios including student counseling conversations and home-school communication, blending specialized micro-lessons, targeted exercises, and AI digital human simulations. Features include simulation modules for student psychological counseling and problem type identification. The system covers skills like empathetic expression, nonviolent communication, handling resistance, and emotion naming, while problem categories encompass 18 typical issues such as academic pressure, exam anxiety, school avoidance, parent-child conflicts, internet addiction, campus bullying, and early identification of youth suicide. On the same day, the Moral Education Psychology Research Center of Shanghai Normal University was inaugurated. Led by the School of Psychology at Shanghai Normal University, the center brings together research forces across psychology, education, ideological and political education, and brain science to address practical educational questions from a psychological perspective.

Why it matters

During the earlier trial operation, more than one hundred frontline teachers from over ten primary and secondary schools used the system and provided feedback on its functions and simulation experience. The development team then conducted multiple iterations on the simulated dialogues, training functions, and user experience based on that input.
