The Brief

China News Service reported that an event presenting results and screening high-quality submissions for the Yanqing cultural and tourism resources AI short film library construction project was held recently. Solicitations and evaluations were organized across four categories: cultural revitalization, greenway roaming, humanistic landscape, and district-wide creativity. The initiative selected 4 featured high-quality works, 6 individual high-quality works, and 30 outstanding works. Lin Jun, Party branch secretary of the Beijing Yanqing District Culture and Tourism Bureau, stated that building the repository aims to record Yanqing's features and present its stories via digital creativity, highlighting the Great Wall, Expo, Winter Olympics, Guishui, and folk customs. The project encourages integration between traditional imagery and artificial intelligence creativity to explore digital expressions and communication for local cultural and tourism resources. To help participants understand local resources, organizers led nearly 40 creators to conduct field trips across six major collection sites in Yanqing. Creators experienced the local landscape and culture while capturing real-world scenery on camera to build material for production. Through solicitation, field research, and screenings, the project progressively gathered a collection of cultural and tourism footage showcasing local characteristics. The initiative was hosted by the Yanqing District Culture and Tourism Bureau and organized by the Beijing Cultural Industrial Park Association.

China context

The project launched during the Beijing International Film Festival, soliciting 252 submissions from domestic and overseas creators. A total of 106 works reached the final evaluation round, with superior entries integrated into the Yanqing library, and several works were subsequently screened at a local cultural performance.
