Hainan Free Trade Port Receives First Bonded Remanufacturing Auto Gearbox Shipment

China News Service reported that 300 automotive gearboxes intended for bonded remanufacturing arrived at the Haikou Comprehensive Bonded Zone under supervision by Macungang Customs under Haikou Customs. This milestone officially marks the launch of a new bonded remanufacturing format for automotive parts in the Hainan Free Trade Port. The batch of 300 automotive gearboxes will undergo full-process bonded remanufacturing processing inside the zone before the finished remanufactured products are entirely re-exported. This operation accumulates practical experience for developing a circular economy and cultivating high-end equipment remanufacturing in Hainan. Bonded remanufacturing involves professionally restoring and upgrading imported used mechanical and electrical products so their performance is not inferior to new prototypes before re-exporting them. The primary objective is recovering and enhancing product functionality to yield remanufactured goods equivalent to or better than brand-new items. To ensure operations proceeded steadily, Macungang Customs assisted the enterprise with preparatory tasks including project filing, process reviews, and environmental compliance. Customs officers guided digital ledger usage, implemented closed-loop oversight across materials and waste parts, and applied information technology to maintain cargo traceability.
