Wang Huning Urges United Front Mobilization at Beijing National Day Reception

Senior Chinese leader Wang Huning called for strengthening the patriotic united front and rallying Chinese communities at home and abroad during a joint National Day reception on September 28 at the Great Hall of the People. Organised jointly by key Communist Party and government departments responsible for political consultation, united front work, overseas Chinese, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan affairs, the gathering marked the upcoming 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and underscored loyalty to the leadership core under Xi Jinping.

The annual joint reception represents the highest-profile collective appearance of China's top united front, diaspora, and regional policy organs. Wang's remarks offer authoritative guidance on how Beijing intends to coordinate policy toward Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and the global Chinese diaspora amid complex international conditions.

China's top political advisory and united front apparatus convened on September 28 at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing to mark the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, state media reported. The reception was organized jointly by six major party and state entities: the General Office of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, the United Front Work Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, and the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese. Wang Huning, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau and chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, attended the event and delivered the keynote address, according to Xinhua News Agency. In his speech, Wang stressed the imperative to adhere to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. He underscored the need to maintain broad solidarity and alliances, uphold the banner of patriotism, and consolidate and develop what the leadership describes as the broadest patriotic united front. Wang called for pooling the wisdom and strength of Chinese sons and daughters at home and abroad to advance socialist modernization and national rejuvenation. Wang also noted historical milestones, highlighting that the year coincided with the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China alongside the PRC's 77th anniversary. He said that throughout different historical phases, the party had guided the population toward monumental achievements. He emphasized that since the 18th CPC National Congress, the central leadership with Xi Jinping at its core had steered the country into a new era marked by comprehensive modernization and high-quality socioeconomic development.
