The Brief

China News Service reported that enterprises in Shaoxing, Zhejiang province, are packing and loading core equipment for carbon fiber production lines to be exported to South Korea through Ningbo Port. The traditional textile industry has expanded beyond spinning and weaving into developing new equipment capable of producing high-end carbon fiber materials, enabling full production line exports. One enterprise commenced independent research and development of carbon fiber equipment in 2013, focusing initially on carbonization lines before adding precursor equipment. Both stages now support full delivery, making whole production line exports possible. The Modern Textile Technology Innovation Center of Zhejiang Province located a laboratory inside a workshop of Zhejiang Jinggong Integrated Technology Co., Ltd. Under this collaboration, university personnel provide algorithms while company workers supply production lines to test plans before customer deployment.

Why it matters

According to Cheng Xiaoying, a technical specialist at the innovation center, integrating university staff and factory engineers directly into production lines reduced debugging cycles from two months to one month or half a month.

China context

Sun Guojun, chairman of Zhejiang Jinggong Integrated Technology Co., Ltd., recalled that foreign firms previously refused to sell entire lines or process technology. Equipment upgrades, servicing, and component repairs relied entirely on foreign engineers.
