CPPCC Holds Special Consultation on Accelerating Agricultural Modernization

In his remarks, Wang stated that since the 18th CPC National Congress, the CPC Central Committee with Xi Jinping at its core has consistently prioritized issues related to agriculture, rural regions, and farmers—collectively referred to as 'san nong' work. Wang pointed out that China has made significant historical strides in rural development, including winning the battle against absolute poverty, implementing the rural revitalization strategy, and advancing the broader mandate of agricultural modernization. Addressing the consultative body, Wang stressed that political advisors must align their efforts with the decisions of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and the upcoming tasks laid out in the 15th Five-Year Plan framework. He emphasized that progress in the countryside is essential to the overall quality and success of Chinese modernization, reiterating the official policy line that safeguarding food security represents a fundamental national priority. Wang called on CPPCC delegates to focus their field investigations, policy deliberations, and political oversight on core operational objectives. Specific focal points mentioned include enhancing comprehensive agricultural production capacity, boosting product quality and efficiency, constructing livable and prosperous rural environments, and sharpening the efficiency of government policies aimed at strengthening agriculture and benefiting farmers. Furthermore, Wang encouraged CPPCC members who are researchers, scholars, and corporate leaders to leverage their professional expertise directly within their respective fields. The session gathered nearly 100 members of the CPPCC National Committee. Leadership from the CPPCC Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee delivered a report detailing recent targeted investigative research, and 25 advisory members and technical experts presented oral and written submissions during the consultation.
