Danyang Accelerates Intelligent Eyewear Manufacturing Transition

Xinhua News Agency reported that Danyang in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu, manufactures approximately 45% of global resin lenses annually and brings together more than 1600 industrial chain enterprises. According to Yuan Hongjin, secretary-general of the Danyang Glasses Chamber of Commerce, more than half a century of development has enabled the full eyewear industrial chain in Danyang to basically achieve autonomy in materials, equipment, processes, and standards, laying a solid foundation for capturing intelligent transformation opportunities. Smart eyewear has emerged as an innovation focus in Danyang, where well-known brands have partnered with local eyewear companies, including one mass-produced artificial intelligence eyewear model weighing as light as 25.3 grams. At Jiangsu Gongda Jinkai High-end Equipment Manufacturing Co., Ltd. in Danyang, fully automated custom lens production lines operate continuously without human monitoring, reaching a film application speed of 520 to 540 pieces per hour. Nuotong Yimu Optical Technology (Danyang) Co., Ltd. transferred semiconductor photolithography processes to lens production lines, enabling 1500-degree myopia lenses to achieve a center thickness of 2 millimeters, according to company head Di Make.

Applying lithography machines enables the processing of varied prescription strengths onto resin material of identical thickness. This method upgrades lens processing precision to the 0.1-micron level, improves material utilization to over 95%, and raises light transmittance by more than 15%.
