Indonesia and China Expand Strategic and Security Ties in Jakarta Meeting

During the meeting, President Prabowo commended the role of the China-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Dialogue mechanism and the '2+2' foreign and defense ministerial dialogue. Prabowo highlighted China's achievements in poverty alleviation, economic development, technology, and defense under President Xi Jinping, describing them as valuable examples for developing countries in the Global South. Prabowo reaffirmed Indonesia's desire to broaden strategic cooperation, welcoming further investment from Chinese enterprises and pledging to maintain a stable business environment. Prabowo also indicated his intention to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting in Shenzhen in November, noting that the multilateral forum would offer an opportunity to further deepen strategic communication and collaboration between Jakarta and Beijing. Foreign Minister Wang Yi conveyed greetings from President Xi, emphasizing that China remains a dependable and long-term partner in Indonesia's national development. Wang stated that China is willing and equipped to support Indonesia in converting its natural resources into industrial momentum, aiding the country's modernization and industrialization agendas. Addressing global developments, Wang stressed that rising international volatility makes solidarity, mutual trust, and open cooperation between China and Indonesia even more essential. He noted that developing nations share common interests in sustaining their economic trajectories and establishing a model of South-South cooperation. Both sides affirmed their commitment to executing agreements reached by their heads of state, as well as advancing outcomes from the first Comprehensive Strategic Dialogue and the second '2+2' dialogue.
