The Brief

According to China News Service, the Yunnan Digital Film and Television Industrial Park officially opened in Kunming on October 18, marking the establishment of the first full-chain digital base in Yunnan that integrates shooting, production, translation, and international distribution. The facility aims to use multilingual translation to open cultural export pathways toward South Asia and Southeast Asia. Guided by the Publicity Department of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee, the park was spearheaded by Yunnan Radio and Television alongside Yunnan Media Group. The initiative seeks to bridge exterior shooting with interior filming, post-production, and talent cultivation, offering visiting crews one-stop creative and full-chain services. Positioned around film, technology, and cultural entertainment, the complex houses virtual filming studios, professional studios, a shooting support service center, and an AIGC talent training center. It brings together industry-wide resources spanning project planning, filming, post-production, publicity, and distribution. Currently, the park has gathered 106 film and television service suppliers, accelerating the formation of an all-element service system covering shooting locations, costumes, makeup, props, equipment, vehicles, and hotels.

Why it matters

Relying on an outbound base and an AI multilingual platform, the park will coordinate with a provincial minority-language translation center to convert Yunnan-themed film, cultural tourism, and promotional content for regular international distribution.
