The Brief

China News Service reported from a National Energy Administration quarterly press conference that construction of the nation's new power grid is moving forward in an orderly manner. Grid enterprises completed two-thirds of their estimated annual fixed-asset investment by the end of September. National Energy Administration power department deputy director Tan Hongjiang stated that transmission capacity from west to east has risen continuously since new grid construction began. The project from Shaanxi to Anhui entered operation this year, while other projects, including one from southeast Tibet to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, are quickening construction. Tan stated that the primary grid framework has continuously improved. Ultra-high voltage alternating current frameworks are largely formed in North China, Central China, and East China, while the other three regions have achieved effective extra-high voltage coverage. The power supply guarantee and carrying capacity of urban and rural distribution networks have also improved significantly. Moving forward, the National Energy Administration will coordinate with relevant departments and enterprises to strengthen new power grid development, improve grid architecture, pursue technological breakthroughs, upgrade services, and actively push key tasks and major engineering projects toward implementation.

Why it matters

The construction of the world's largest charging network, comprising over 24000000 items, effectively ensures the charging requirements for more than 51000000 vehicles powered by new energy across the nation.
