The Brief

China News Service reported that the Shuju Building, an office tower situated at Lingshan Island Tip in Pearl Bay within Guangzhou Nansha, is operating as an important cross-border trade link across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The Global Cross-Border Trade Industry Cluster located inside the Shuju Building has officially commenced operations as a core carrier of Nansha's building economy. Operating under a model that handles the entire cross-border trade chain in one building, it provides foreign trade companies with eight services covering customs clearance, taxation, foreign exchange settlement, financing, and warehousing. To provide digital foundation alongside offline integration, the trade cluster introduced CAS Wise, incubated by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, to construct a blockchain-based international trade integrated service platform. This digital architecture captures customs, foreign exchange, and tax data through single collection and multilateral sharing, converting dormant commercial data into verifiable credit assets for financing while resolving freight settlement challenges through its shipping freight settlement system. Additionally, a comprehensive service base for Chinese enterprises going global has been established in Nansha to resolve enterprise compliance difficulties. This facility delivers lifecycle support spanning pre-investment, investment execution, and post-investment phases, combining with a one-stop government affairs platform to reinforce institutional guarantees for cross-border trade operations.

Why it matters

According to the Nansha district government, the hub leverages Nansha Port's trade routes and clearance systems linking inland river terminals across nine cities. For some enterprises, cutting customs clearance time by each single day accelerates capital turnover, and multinational buyers visited the cluster during the Canton Fair in October to expand export pathways.
